About Mrs Edith Francois

  1. A professional Home Economist who retired years ago from the University of Ghana, Legon.
  2. Has been a member of GHEA since its inception in 1965. She designed the emblem of the Association and later initiated the Jewels Award.
  3. Served as GHEA President for two terms (1990 – 1995)
  4. Was instrumental in changing Ghana Home Science Association (GHSA) to Ghana Home Economics Association (GHEA).
  5. Collaborated with Ghana United Nations Association to organize the first conference on international year of the Family in Ghana.
  6. She was elected vice president of Home Economics Association for Africa (HEAA) in charge of Anglophone West Africa.
  7. Was later elected as the substantive President of HEAA.
  8. Served as Vice President for the world body International Federation of Home Economics (IFHE) Africa Region.
  9. Co-ordinated the first and yet still the only IFHE quadrennial Congress ever held in Africa in Ghana.
  10. Has travelled worldwide in the service of GHEA and even in her octogenarian years she is still active in GHEA affairs and very keen on its progress.
